Highlighter creams and loose mineral powders have been favourites in beauty bags for quite some time. Getting that gorgeous luminous look with a gentle shimmer on the cheeks or an iridescent accent under the eyebrows is something that can work miracles in enhancing your look from drab to fab. But what’s the best way to apply and when is the right time to wear it?
If you have a good product then application should be pretty easy. Test a bit out before you work on your face area so you know the consistency and you have an idea of how much to use. I tend to try on my wrist and then have a look at it in different lights, perhaps daylight with a bit of window brightness if you’re going out in the day, or check it out in a darker space with lights turned on if you’re heading out.
The key areas to make this work are the apples of your cheeks (much like a blusher) and under your eye brows. How ever Hi Light makeup can also be worked gently over your high points. You will see in this model photo it’s smudged from the cheeks up and around the side of the eyes to the outer eyebrow for a more dramatic look. You can even use a touch on the inner corners of your eyes (upper side nose) but not too much! I love this models look and the way her makeup reflects the light – beautiful!
Dont forget that you can also layer your hi lighter creme with other mineral make up. Perhaps just a lighter touch over your bronzer in the daytime, or for a more dramatic look try smoothing over your favourite bright blush for a more accentuated look.
My favourite Hi Light Creme is Alchemy by ECO MINERALS.
(This is the product used in the model photo above!)
A great wee product that I keep in my handbag for a quick face touch up on the run. Once you’re used to applying this it only takes a few seconds to transform your skin, creating a dewy fresh look.
This is pure mineral makeup so it’s great for your skin and contains a natural SPF24.
